The Marine Safety Forum recently published a safety alert regarding an incident on an Emergency Response and Rescue vessel which is worth having a look at.. http://www.marinesafetyforum.org/index.php/safety-alerts/createpdf .

The crewman had his finger crushed when attaching the lifting ring on the wire to the Daughter craft Hook. The root cause being the lifting ring was not suited to task. These are the crew responsible for emergency response and in this instance the equipment being used was,to put it simply, dangerous. Henrikson supplies lifting rings  which are fit for purpose and are standard use in the Seismic industry worldwide. Hopefully the fleet will install these lifting rings in the near future.
